JULY NATIONAL ICE CREAM MONTH!!!!

Happy 4th of July from the Dairy Princess
July was not as busy as June but it still was a blast doing what I love. We were giving many opportunities to share our story and meet a lot of new people. The town celebrations are always some of my favorites as we get to ride in the parade. We were able to celebrate the 4th of July in Annadale and Waverly Daze. It so great to be able to celebrate the 4th in a local community since it has been a while and last year I was in Washington DC. I was truly amazed with all the familiar faces I saw. Plus it is always a great time with our queen cow Buttercup (fyi not a real cow) and everyone asking where's the milk and we have to say we left it at the farm. Waverly Dazes was another parade I had an outstanding time at. I was able to throw string cheese out with to amazing little helpers and princesses in training. Also I was able to talk to many of my 'sparkle section' friends. These girls definitely make the parades a lot more exciting. In the end I was able to welecome 3 amazing ladies into the group and said goodbye to 2 outstanding outgoing ambassadors.

Besides the parades I was able to attend John Deere Customer Appreciation and serving ice cream to the elderly and learn more about what life on the farm has changed. These events are always a lot of fun because meet so many people and share with them about dairy.

The Busiest time is complete:(

Buffalo Parade
Trivia at Culvers
This last month was one that kept me on the go. All for one reason June Dairy Month. I love June because it is Dairy Month. I had the privilege of meet two of the first babies born, go to libraries, read stories, serve ice cream, welcome people to Breakfast on the Farm, and a lot more. This month is always a fun time sharing my passion for the dairy community with others and asking them questions (which is always a lot of fun). Also it is time when I can connect with amazing young women in the 'sparkle section' by talking about the importance of dairy in our diets.

I truly would not have my June be any other way and now we are going into the Fourth of July and July National Ice Cream Month.

June Dairy Month

My Favorite Month of the year is June. Why you may ask? Well for me it my busiest month promoting dairy farming and the wholesome and nutritious product the cows provide us with. All ready three days into the month and we have already met one of the first babies born in June and giving a tour of a local dairy farm and that is just the beginning. I truly can't wait for the next 27 days tell community members about life on a dairy farm and all the benefits they receive in one serving of milk.
It is amazing to see how much younger girls look up to you when you have a crown on and I am sure us dairy princesses will be get a lot of hugs and a lot "Your a real Princess" this month but I will take that any time if that means I tell them about milk and other dairy foods.

The May Event and 12 Finalists

WOW, What a Weekend!!!! I was able to participate in a Promotional and Leadership Conference for Dairy Princesses. I was able to reunited with some dairy princesses from last year and meet a lot of new princesses. The one thing I love about this event is that we all have the same love and same passion which is Dairy. Not only are we able to share our story but still learn more about speaking and building public's confidence in Dairy Foods and Farmers.

There is judging that goes on to see who will be the 12 finalist for Princess Kay of the Milky Way. We go through three processes:
1.) Personal Interview: For this part we are asked numerous questions about ourselves and the dairy community.
Lets Bowl
2.) Mock Media Interview: Basically it is like we are doing a radio or newspaper interview.
3.) Speech: This year we were given three audience group and topics to chose from. This year I the choice I chose was talking about Consumer Confidence to a High school Foods Class.

Taking Shelter
After Judging was all done and we could finally relax, it was time for some fun bonding time. Since it was raining off and on we did not go on a walk but instead we enjoyed some zumba dances, boy was that fun but that just might be the dancer in me talking. Then we were going to play princess trivia with the 2014 Princess Kay Finalist but then the Tornado Warning hit and we had to take shelter but in the end we went the to the St. Cloud State Bowling alley, finished the trivia game, and got a game of bowling in. I was hoping to get a game of Uno in too but they did not have it this year:'(

The Minnesota County Dairy Princesses

I have say it was a great experience to go back and be one that completed but in the end only 12 out the 60 dairy princesses could be chosen. So on Sunday the 2015 Princess Kay Finalists were announced and truly happy for each of the Finalists. I was not one of names called this year but I know that God has different plan for me as a County Dairy Princess. So if you are wondering who will be having their heads carved in 90 pounds of butter at the Minnesota State Fair check the Princess Kay Facebook Page or the Midwest Dairy Twitter.

60 years of Wright County Dairy Princesses

This year we celebrated the 60 Years of Wright County Dairy Princesses. I was truly amazed to be apart of it. I say that because when I was nine years old I saw my sister crowned for the last time at the 50th Dairy Princess Banquet. I never imagined that I would be a Princess 10 years after her (it felt like forever). Now Here I am to say I am one of the 60th Dairy Princesses. It was really great to share this with my sister and to be able to see some of the girls she was crowned with. It has been 60 years now and the program is still going strong.

Becoming a Princess

Every little girl's dream is to one day become a princess. Little did I know I would be able to grow up in the eyes of princesses and being a royal sister, princess in training, and official photographer. I was able to see my sister crowned not only once but four times. I able to experience the parades, coronations, promotional events, and most of all being surround by princesses. Once I saw all that my sister experienced as royalty my dream became real. I dreamed that I too would be apart of that experience in the sparkle section, have little girls look up to you, and sharing my passion with everyone I met. Last year was when I began to make it my reality. I had the privilege of becoming a candidate for my town and county fair. I felt that God had a plan for me. I did not know if these programs would be apart of it but I knew the experience would be. Even though I was not one chosen by the judges for those titles but God had a different plan for me. Being a princess is more than the crown, the sash, and the dresses so I still can represent my home town and county fair in my life.

April of 2014 my dream came true and reality. I had the honor to become a 2014-2015 Dairy Princess. I knew I would one day run to represent the dairy industry and I am so grateful to give back to a passion of mine. When I applied I knew I was in for a wild adventure but little did I know that the girls I met would be such amazing young women who represent their communities and festivals wonderfully. I would be able to travel Wright County promote dairy and being a spokesperson for the dedicated farmers of the dairy industry.

Being a princess is about who you are and what you believe in. I believe that the dairy industry is something that is a benefit to society even if some people say it is not. I grew up around dairy farm and being able to see where milk products truly comes from is a blessing. I thankful that we can have milk products that can provide us with nine essential nutrients, like Calcium and Vitamin A & D, in just one serving.

Now on April 11, 2015 I was chosen to be a Dairy Princess for a second year. God has truly blessed me with this amazing experience. I am able to continue to be an advocate for the dairy industry. Through out this year I hope to share my experience as a 2015-2016 Wright County Dairy Princess.
