Lets raise a glass of Milk

Today is one of my favorite days. Why you ask? Because it is National Milk Day. Some may wonder what is so great about National Milk Day. First off, in my family we love milk and other dairy foods. To be honest, we can not go a day without drinking milk even at County Fair my mom will have a cooler with a gallon of milk.  Since we love dairy so much whenever we hear about a day when we celebrate dairy farming and foods even more. It becomes a big deal. I think that is part of the reason I am so passionate about sharing all dairy has to offer us all.

National Milk Day is always on January 11th. I began to wonder why so I googled it. January 11th, 1878 was delivered in bottles. This bit of information reminded me of how much things has changed but yet milk is still the same wholesome, nutritious, and the safest drink in our food supply.
I celebrate everyday as National Milk day as the Dairy community is apart my life and who I am as person. I hope you too will celebrate everyday as National Milk Day by always getting your 3 servings of dairy and remembering to thank the hard working and dedicated Dairy farm families for working everyday to provide the world with food and drinks that are of the highest quality and beneficial
in our diets.

So God Bless and continue to support your local dairy Farm families everyday,

Classroom visits

Classroom visits are some of my favorites for many reasons. One you never know the questions you will be asked. Some of my favorites questions have been: How many times have you painted your barn,? And How many times does a cow MOO in a day? Another reason I love classroom visits is the opportunity to interact with kids who are our next generation. Being able to share with them about agriculture and the importance of it is important as they will one day be buying grocery and will know the truth about dairy and all agriculture. The last reason is working with kids in general is fun. My mom has always said I was called to work with kids and now I am hoping to go to school for Elementary Education. Today I had the opportunity to visit two Kindergarten classes at a local school. It was their Farmer day and they were all wearing their best farmer clothes which was cute. They had another farm family come and talk about their farm and then I share about my mom's family farm and how milk gets to the farm to their tables. I did an activity with them and they enjoyed some delicious Ice cream.

Fun Fact: Yesterday January 5th was National Whipped Cream day!!

Chocolate milk: A Smart Drink For Athletes

Dancing at a 4H Talent show in
Washington DC
For me growing up I knew sports would be a big part of my life. I grew up watching my sisters play volleyball, basketball, and softball. So I thought for sure they would be the ones I played too and the were until 1st grade which is when I added Dance to the mixed. So from 1st though 8th grade school years and/or summers I played volleyball, basketball, softball, and danced. Ninth grade came and I decided not to play basket
Dance Teacher Life
ball even through it was my favorite (long story). Come Sophomore year I change my sports up some more as I dropped softball(never my favorite) for track(best decision ever). So the three sports I graduated doing were volleyball, track, and dance. All which I continue to do to this day.
So you probably wondering what in the world does this have to do with chocolate milk. For me I have always loved chocolate milk. So when I learned more about drinking chocolate milk after workouts, games, meets, recitals, etc. I was all for it. Chocolate milk has a great balance between its carbohydrates and its proteins. This balances helps refuel our energy as well as help build our muscles stronger. On Instagram I follow an account called Built With Chocolate Milk and I always love see professional athletes on there drinking chocolate milk. One of the Athletes is Minnesota Wild player Zach Parise which I thought was pretty cool. Even Olympians drink it after workouts. I love seeing support for the dairy community by professionals and hope the support continues to grow.

Milk is Local

One of my favorite things about milk is that is the fact that it takes 48 hours to get milk from the farm to our tables. This fact is why always remind people I meet to continue to support the local dairy farm families. Then I found this picture on Pinterest from Dairy Carrie I knew this was the fact I was going to use. Also it reminded me of a youtube video from Midwest Dairy I have used in classroom visits which shows the 48 hours in 48 seconds(the link is below) I truly love using this video and other Youtube Videos as a way to break up my presentation and make it more interesting and exciting. So next time your in the dairy aisle at the store remember that the milk was just on the farm 48 hours ago.

Tuesday Trivia

Today I found this interesting tidbit while on pinterest which I love. I know it is true too. The summer before Ninth Grade I was working with one of my show heifers and she took me down. Luckily for me my mom was there to help me. I thank God that I was not severely injured but after that incident she always watched me and would follow me. I never went out into the pasture alone nor did I ever show her again. I don't know what ever went wrong but I do know that if a cow has a grudge she going to have it for a long time.

Hope you all enjoy my #TalkDairy365 facts/tidbits everyday.

Dairy Moos... #TalkDairy365

Sundae resting on Ripples after a long day at the County Fair
Yesterday post I introduced a hashtag that I will be using for the year and beyond. It is #TalkDairy365. So everyday on here and all social media platforms I am on I will be share something dairy related. So days the post may be just a fact or recipe(short and sweet post) or it might be about updates from dairy princess events or life on the farm. I hope you enjoy my #TalkDairy365 campaign/challenge and if you are involved in the dairy community I encourage you to take on this challenge and share dairy with others everyday.

Dairy Fact of the day: Cows are very sociable animals which is why they tend to have many close friends and you can tell what ones are best friends.

#TalkDairy365

As I began to think about what goals I had for 2017, a light bulb went off in my head. Just like that I knew... And it all started with my end of 2016 collage where I used the hashtag #TalkDairy365. I knew is was a must not only since I am a dairy princess but since dairy is the life I live everyday. Now of course I have other goals for 2017, too. So I thought why not share a few.

So here we go:
The first goal is to be active with social media by using the #TalkDairy365 everyday. I want to fill everyone's day with something related to dairy including on this blog. Whether it be a picture, fact, recipe, etc. I want to be an agvocate everyday as I want to better inform others about the dairy community and agriculture as a whole.
My second goal of 2017 is to listen. As an agvocate it is important to listen to create a well rounded discussion. My thought is that why will others listen to you if you don't listen to them first. This goal is one I think everyone can apply to their lives especially my generation. One of my favorite saying is it's okay to agree to disagree. No everyone will have your same point of view and everyone is allowed to think for themselves. If someone doesn't agree with you or if something doesn't go your way aka the Election don't start rioting and consistently protest because then you just look like babies to be honest. Things happen for a reason and this time the conservative voices were heard. Trust me this is why I will always say agree to disagree. Also I think as blogger it is important that I listen to my readers whenever a comment is left.
My third goal is to Follow through with my plans. From cleaning my room to applying to colleges to even posting a blog post I get caught up in all the craziness life brings. This year I want to change that even if I have to set a certain day and time to do something. I want to become organize so I can really stay on top of my schedule of craziness. Most of all I want to follow through with my plans for this blog and ideas for dairy princess events. I have good intentions every year but somewhere along the line it disappears to the back burner is stays there until the little light bulb goes back on. I truly pray I follow through with this goal. HAHAHAHA(did you catch that)
My final goal is to grow closer to Christ Jesus my Lord and Savior through daily devotions and bible readings. I have created a bible binder and have numerous journals for devotions and readings. Last year I grew but in my mind you can never be to close to God and you are always learning more.  As I grow in my relationship with the Lord I can continue to inspire and lead my nieces and nephews closer to Him also.
So here's to day one and to the 364 day yet to come.

Dairy Fact of the Day: The average person consumes 584 pounds of dairy foods every years.
